Comprehensive community cancer care, close to home
The physicians, staff and volunteers at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Comprehensive Community Cancer Center understand that treatment of cancer goes beyond the disease. It encompasses treating the whole person, including caregivers and loved ones also impacted by cancer.
It was those founding principles that lead to the creation of the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Cancer Center in 1995. Physicians and staff turned their vision of providing comprehensive cancer care to patients in our own community.
Today, the cancer center is a nationally accredited Comprehensive Community Cancer Program by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. We are proud to be among a limited group of cancer centers in America to reach that level of accreditation.
Our services combine expert staff and physicians, state-of-the-art technology and a healing environment that includes the full range of diagnostic options including a 64-slice CT scanner. Treatments available include chemotherapeutic and radiologic treatments. We also participate in many of the latest clinical trials.
Our skilled and dedicated staff works with four physicians, hematology staff and consulting clinicians to treat and monitor the progress of our patients. There is also a dedicated group of volunteers who lend support to the Cancer Center.
Mission
Community Service is the mission of the Cancer Center. In addition to quality cancer treatment, we are also dedicated to preventing cancer through education, finding cancer at its earliest possible stages through awareness and screening programs, and providing ongoing psychological support services for patients and caregivers.
