Auxiliary Volunteers Lend Valuable Support
From the beginning of Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital nearly 50 years ago, there have been volunteers here to support our staff and patients. From 1958 through 2006, the Auxiliary has provided well over one million hours of service.
In that time, they have also given the hospital $967,156 to purchase needed equipment and supplies. In honor of their contributions to our hospital, the SNMH Foundation named the Auxiliary its Volunteers of the Year for 2007.
But it is on a daily basis at the hospital that the Auxiliary’s influence is felt. They are the first to greet patients and visitors with a smile, provide service to units in need of additional support, and are responsible for newly purchased equipment that makes the lives of clinical employees a lot easier. In 2006, the Auxiliary donated $47,481 to the hospital, thanks to the proceeds of its many sales.
The Auxiliary volunteers serve the hospital in the following departments:
- Main Lobby
- Outpatient Lobby
- Outpatient Surgery
- Emergency Department
- Gift Shop
- Nursing Floors
- Cancer Center
- Quick Care
- Diagnostic Center
In addition, they assist other departments in clerical capacities and work on special projects when the extra help is needed. The SNMH Auxiliary is active in fund raising, hosting a variety of events through out the year. The funds raised by our Auxiliary are used to purchase and/or supplement equipment and supplies for the hospital.
The Auxiliary always welcomes new volunteers. Applications can be picked-up at the main lobby or outpatient lobby of the hospital. Or click here to print a copy of the Volunteer Application.
