This imaging technology uses a camera that tracks radio isotopes injected into the patient. An effective method of identifying abnormalities, nuclear medicine is most commonly used in bone infections, cardiac diagnosis and lung scans.

Importantly, nuclear medicine is used in sentinel node mapping of the lymphatic system in cancer cases including breast cancer and melanoma.
