Western Nevada County also boasts a wide range of things to do year-round. The South Yuba River and Tahoe National Forest provide numerous outdoor recreational opportunities such as kayaking, hiking and mountain bike trails, camping and fishing.

The rich history of Nevada County is incorporated into everyday life. Millions of dollars in gold was extracted from the surrounding hills during the late 1800s.
